    WHAT HAPPENED?

Rwanda played their final 2025 Afcon qualifier against Nigeria on Monday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

The Super Eagles took the lead in the 59th minute through Samuel Chukwueze, who was named man of the match for his performance.

However, the away side responded strongly with two quick goals from Ange Mutsinzi and Innocent Nshuti in the 72nd and 75th minutes, respectively.

Despite only having two shots on target, Amavubi made them count, clinching the win.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari made some crucial saves throughout his time on the pitch, but he was substituted in the 69th minute due to injury.

Chippa United keeper Stanley Nwabali did not feature in this encounter as Maduke Okoye of Udinese was between the sticks for the Super Eagles on the night.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Rwanda ended the Afcon qualification campaign on a high note, securing a win in Nigeria after drawing at home in the reverse fixture.

The victory not only boosts their confidence but also secures momentum going forward.

Their win over Nigeria also highlights the improvement in Rwanda's football, showcasing a well-rounded team effort.

The next major task for Amavubi will be preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where they will face even tougher opposition.

    WHAT IS NEXT FOR NTWARI?

The immediate focus for goalkeeper Ntwari is to assess the severity of his injury.

The former TS Galaxy star will need to undergo a thorough medical evaluation to determine how long he will be sidelined.

His recovery will be critical as his club, Chiefs, prepares for an upcoming match against Richards Bay in the league.

Amakhosi will need their number-one goalkeeper fit and ready to ensure a solid defensive performance in the league.

The 25-year-old will aim to recover quickly and get back to full fitness to continue his vital role for both club and country.

His recovery will be a key factor in Kaizer Chiefs' upcoming fixtures.
