RB Leipzig are attempting to steady themselves after a bruising run of results that has raised serious questions about the direction of the club under Martin Demichelis. A 6-1 thrashing by Bayern Munich and a subsequent 4-1 defeat at Real Madrid in the Champions League exposed defensive frailties and left the squad searching for answers. The scale of those losses prompted Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer to describe the Bayern performance as a complete failure in all areas, while Lothar Matthäus warned publicly that Demichelis could run out of time quickly if results do not improve.

A 4-0 home win over Elversberg in the Bundesliga last weekend offered some relief and moved Leipzig up to fifth in the table, according to the latest standings data. The result brought a degree of confidence back to the squad ahead of a demanding schedule. Matthäus also raised concerns about Demichelis's ability to communicate clearly with his players, adding another layer of scrutiny to a coach already under pressure.

On the transfer front, reports from Gianluca Di Marzio indicate Leipzig are monitoring former Bayern Munich youth player Luka Licina, currently on loan at Serie B side Cremonese, as a potential winter addition. Leipzig now face Rot-Weiss Essen in the DFB-Pokal second round on October 27, a fixture that offers the chance to build on recent momentum while navigating a stretch that will define Demichelis's tenure.
