Serie A Overview

Premier League sides Arsenal and Newcastle United are preparing to go head-to-head with German giants Bayern Munich in the race to sign Cruzeiro midfield prodigy Eduardo Pape. Despite yet making his senior debut in Brazil, the 17-year-old prospect has already caught the attention of elite European scouts with his mature displays at youth level.

Corinthians head coach Clarence Seedorf has urged his players to channel their inner fire down the final stretch of the Campeonato Brasileiro season following Friday's crucial 2-0 victory over relegation rivals Mirassol. The triumph in Itaquera secured the Dutchman his first win in charge and ended an 11-match winless run for the club.

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura has revealed that he contemplated hanging up his boots immediately after suffering a ruptured right Achilles tendon at Sao Paulo earlier this year. The 34-year-old Brazilian attacker feared for his career inside the dressing room during May's 2-2 Campeonato Brasileiro draw against Bahia.

Former Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he turned down an approach from Brazilian heavyweights Flamengo during the summer transfer window out of loyalty to boyhood club Palmeiras. Instead of returning to South America, the 29-year-old attacker completed a deadline-day switch from north London to Spanish giants Barcelona.
