Biography: I studied journalism at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and began writing for an East Africa digital publication, exclusively delivering content on the Kenya Premier League from 2016 to 2019. From March 2019, I joined GOAL Kenya as a writer, where, again, I mostly focused on KPL and the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. In 2020 my mandate was extended to cover the Premier Soccer League of South Africa. After a three year hiatus from 2022 to 2025 I rejoined GOAL to exclusively cover the PSL, Bafana Bafana, and CAF competitions.

My football story: I once thought I would be a lifelong Manchester United football fan, but with time, I have discovered that was a teenager's dream. Nowadays, only Yanga SC gives me headaches and heartaches.

Areas of Expertise:

Premier Soccer League

CAF Champions League

CAF Confederation Cup

African Cup of Nations (AFCON)

African Nations Championship (CHAN)

Favourite football memory: In 2005, I was one of the best centre-backs in school games, and this made me think, for a moment, that I was national team material. I innocently thought I would partner Phillip Opiyo or Zablon Amanaka as one of the Harambee Stars' centre-backs. It later turned out that it was just an innocent dream and that I was not even good at playing football. But the dream was achieved in a different way: using the pen to tell football stories. I consider it a dream achieved, though, because it is all about football!

  1. Senegal win AFCON as Diaz made to pay for horror Panenka penalty

Senegal and Morocco served the continent and the world with pure footballing drama in the 2025 AFCON final, from a controversial penalty to protests and a late, fate-deciding goal from Pape Gueye, which will be remembered for years to come. The Lions of Teranga, who appeared in their third final in the last four editions, withstood the storm and became the African champions once again. Morocco, though, extended their 50-year wait for another continental trophy, with Brahim Diaz guilty of missing a stoppage-time penalty that would have sealed the title for the hosts.

  2. Ex-Chiefs target the hero as Nigeria clinch record-extending AFCON bronze after Salah & Marmoush flop

After falling to beat Morocco in the post-match penalties in the semi-final, this time around, the Super Eagles were sharp as they outclassed the Pharaohs. The West Africans clinched a record-extending AFCON bronze medal following their win over Salah-led Egypt. Now that the battle for bronze has been settled, all eyes are on the ultimate prize, which will be contested for on Sunday between Senegal and the hosts, Morocco.

  3. Salah and Egypt OUT! Mane fires Senegal to AFCON final

This is particularly a big blow to Mohamed Salah's individual ambition of winning the international trophy for his country, which has remained an elusive mission in his career so far. For Mane and his teammates, the dream of winning the second AFCON trophy remains very much alive after progressing to the ultimate stage. The win means Senegal have stamped their authority on this fixture, as they have a decent record against the Pharaohs, where they have now won four of their last six games.

  4. 2025 AFCON: Uganda vs Nigeria - Preview, Kickoff time, TV channel & squad news

Looking for a third straight victory in Morocco, the Super Eagles will face the East Africans, who are yet to win a game. Nigeria, who have already qualified for the knockout stage, have been impressive so far with victories against Tanzania and Tunisia. On the other hand, the Uganda Cranes are looking for their first win after an opening loss to Tunisia, which was followed by a 1-1 draw against Taifa Stars of Tanzania.
