Newcastle United will open talks with manager Rafael Benitez in a desperate attempt to convince him to stay at the club, report the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. The former Liverpool boss's contract will expire on June 30 and he has rejected any offer the Magpies have made. The paper contends that he's unhappy with the club's stance on transfers, both the budget and the amount of control they'd give the Spaniard over recruitment.

As a result Emery must move fast to acquire the Ivory Coast international, who bagged 10 Premier League goals last season.
