Chelsea v Hull City Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, tips and predictions

Hull City will be hoping to pull off an upset when they travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in Friday’s FA Cup clash.

The Tigers have knocked out Blackburn Rovers and fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest so far, taking their place in the fifth round for the second time in three years.

Latest Odds

Having failed to win any of their last 22 visits to this ground, Hull are 12/1 (13.00) outsiders with dabblebet to come out on top in this one.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s men ended a run of two consecutive defeats with a 3-0 victory over West Brom on Monday, and are available at 2/9 (1.22) to maintain their winning form here.

Two of the hosts’ last three matches in this competition have resulted in draws, and you can get odds of 11/2 (6.50) on them taking this one to a replay.

Team News

Conte may offer a first start to January signing Emerson Palmieri, with the likes of Willy Caballero, Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu also in line for a runout in a rotated team.

Loanees Ola Aina, Fikayo Tomori and Michael Hector are unavailable against their parent club, while Ondrej Mazuch, Stephen Kingsley and Moses Odubajo are all out through injury.

Blunt Hull attack

Since replacing Leonid Slutsky in December, Nigel Adkins has done a creditable job of sorting out a defence that had conceded 38 goals in 20 matches prior to his appointment.

They have conceded just 11 times in 12 fixtures since he took over, but worryingly, they have also only scored 11 times in that run themselves.

It is hard to see Hull containing Chelsea considering their defensive absentees, and they are likely to suffer more frustration in front of goal against a defence that has kept six clean sheet in eight home games.

Tips and Predictions

All in all, odds of 3/4 (1.75) seem generous on Chelsea winning to nil for their sixth meeting in seven with Hull.
