During the first-leg match in Istanbul, Rangers players wore black armbands as a mark of respect for Potter. Back in Dennistoun, the neighbourhood where Potter grew up, a memorial wall has been created in his honour. The tribute site is situated near the football pitch and playground where he spent much of his childhood. A GoFundMe campaign set up by Potter’s close friends has been met with overwhelming generosity, surpassing £160,000 in donations. Among those contributing was former Scotland international Robert Snodgrass, who made a personal donation in support of Potter’s family.
