    WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Spain international is taking in a well-deserved break on the back of helping his country to continental glory at Euro 2024. The 17-year-old sensation made more history at that tournament, before eventually getting his hands on the ultimate prize.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

    While relaxing away from the field, Yamal has taken to wearing a Santos jersey from the era that saw Brazilian superstar Neymar burst onto the world stage. He has never hidden his admiration for the South American forward, saying of the ex-Barca ace: “I have always said that [Lionel] Messi is the best player in history for me, but the one I liked to watch was Neymar. Neymar made me want to watch the games; he made me have fun. It was nice to see him play.”

    Santos have now extended an invite to Yamal, asking him to come and see where it all began for Neymar before heading to the United States to link up with Barca on their pre-season tour. They have said: “This shirt is very historical, Yamal. We will give you the new shirt. If you prefer, you can come to Vila Belmiro and take the opportunity to visit the hallowed stadium of world football during your vacation. Cheers in black and white, Nino de la Vila!” Neymar also shared the images on his own Instagram story.
