  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The France superstar has since been struggling to impress throughout the European Championship as he has managed to score just one goal - from a penalty - in four appearances.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amid criticism over the former Paris Saint-Germain star's performances at the Euros, French forward Randal Kolo Muani came to his captain's defence. The player claimed that after trying on Mbappe's mask, he understood the difficulty that the attacker was experiencing as he said he could not see anything when wearing the gear.

  • WHAT RANDAL KOLO MUANI SAID

When reporters asked Kolo Muani about his experience of wearing the mask, the striker said, "You really see nothing. Nothing."

He went on to suggest that despite Mbappe's poor run of form, the team expects the 25-year-old to deliver at the grandest stage as he added, "It’s natural for him. He has this gift of carrying the team, the group. He gives ideas and advice to the players. He was born for this. He was born to pull the group upward.

"To see him not score, it’s up to us to help him, to push him. The competition is not over. Apart from his little broken nose, he’s OK physically."
