Brighton secured a comeback 2-1 win over City at the Amex on Saturday; a result that condemned manager Guardiola to a fourth consecutive defeat for the first time in his managerial career. Rival football fans then took to social media to call for the Spaniard's sacking, while joining in with a joke about him turning into former Manchester United boss Ten Hag.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Guardiola will go down as one of the greatest football managers of all time but even he is human after suffering an historic fourth defeat in a row.

On that development, he said after the Brighton loss: “Well… welcome! There is always time for a first in life."

City are still second in the Premier League with this defeat but they will need to improve quickly to recapture their mojo.

  • WHAT NEXT?

City will have to sit and reflect on this defeat, which follows losses to Sporting CP, Bournemouth and Tottenham in all competitions, for a couple of weeks as they are not in Premier League action again until they face Spurs on November 23.
