Newcastle's huge injury blow! Tino Livramento facing up to EIGHT weeks on sidelines after knee ligament injury

  • Saliba's careless tackle led to Livramento's injury

Livramento, who is a regular starter for Newcastle, was impressive on the pitch against the Gunners last Sunday as the Magpies successfully held on to their lead for 50 minutes, however, his departure led to Arsenal equalising through Eberechi Eze's strike in the 84th minute before Gabriel Magalhaes scored a late winner. Livramento awkwardly went down on the ground after Saliba caught him around his waist with a terrible challenge.

Howe expressed concern after the game

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was concerned after the game as he suspected a long injury layoff for his star defender, as he told reporters: "I am concerned because he's such an important player for us. He's been magnificent at the start of this season. He's a big player, so if we are going to lose him it's going to be a huge blow."

  • Livramento out for up to eight weeks

According to Sky Sports' Keith Downie, Livramento will remain out of action for six to eight weeks. He underwent further scans on Tuesday, which revealed the actual impact of the injury. The injury did not happen on landing and the full-back did not rupture his Anterior Cruciate Ligament.

    Newcastle's struggles continue

Howe's men are off to a terrible start in the 2025-26 campaign and it got worse with their loss at home against the Gunners. After their first six matches, the Magpies have registered just one win and are currently struggling in 15th position. They will next face Union Saint-Gilloise away from home in a Champions League fixture on Wednesday.
