    Messi has stated in the past that he may like to have another child, admitting two years ago that: "We'd like to have a baby again. We're not on the lookout but let's see if a baby girl arrives." Said comments have generated "fake news" in 2025.

    That news has come as a surprise to Antonela, who is said to have told Argentine journalist Angel De Brito – according to a post on his X account: "I spoke to Antonela and she told me that the rumour of her pregnancy is fake. She said that the media has been trying to get her pregnant for the past three years!"

    Messi married childhood sweetheart Antonela in June 2017, with the pair having got together in their native Rosario. Their bond has been forged over the years during stints in Barcelona, Paris and Miami, with Messi currently in the process of readying himself for the 2025 MLS campaign.
