Textor's complex financial empire is under scrutiny on multiple fronts. In Brazil, he has asked a Rio court to "freeze" shares in Botafogo worth €23m (£20m/$26m) that are held by his main creditor, Ares. At the same time, a dispute with another investment fund, Iconic, has escalated to a British court. According to L'Equipe, Iconic is seeking to recover approximately €82m (£71m/$93m) they invested in the purchase of Lyon, with the matter now in the hands of the UK legal system after a US court rejected Textor’s appeal.
