According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the FIGC plans to meet with Gattuso for formal discussions. The coaching setup is a key part of negotiations, with Gattuso set to bring long-time assistant Luigi Riccio with him. Gianluigi Buffon is expected to continue as head of delegation, and Leonardo Bonucci could join the technical staff after his recent involvement with the U-20s. Former defenders Andrea Barzagli and Gianluca Zambrotta are also being considered for roles, as the FIGC looks to forge a strong link between the senior and youth teams.

With formal talks set to take place soon, Gattuso could be unveiled as Italy’s new coach in the coming days. The Azzurri will be aiming to solidify their identity and build cohesion between age groups, particularly with several key former players potentially joining the national team structure.
