Watch out, Arsenal! Real Madrid could make £100m-rated William Saliba most-expensive defender of all time with transfer to fulfil defender's 'dream'

Saliba has arguably been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League alongside Virgil van Dijk in recent times, and as a result the Frenchman has become one of Real Madrid's targets for next summer. However, the Gunners are not very keen on losing their star man and have placed a £100 million ($124m) price tag for any club that wants to sign him as Saliba has a contract until the summer of 2027.

Sky Suisse has now reported that Real Madrid's top brass have already held talks with Saliba's representatives over their concrete interest in the 23-year-old centre-back, despite knowing that they will have to undertake their largest-ever financial operation. That may suggest that Los Blancos are ready to reach Arsenal's asking price for the defender.

Additionally, the report has stated that Real Madrid are Saliba's 'dream' club and he is keen on the prospect of playing with his friend and France team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

Considering Real Madrid are the 23-year-old defender's dream club, this could well be one to keep an eye on for the summer. Saliba is currently away with the rest of the Arsenal squad doing warm-weather training in Dubai.
