The Gunners didn’t require much to take their next step, and with Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, they might have exactly what they need.

Arsenal’s attacking arsenal

Last season, many argued that Arsenal fell short in the title race due to their inability to finish off games. They needed more attacking output and a proper striker - they’ve addressed both and more this summer.

It’s been an impressive transfer window for Mikel Arteta. He added Martin Zubimendi to his midfield and signed Noni Madueke as a new attacking option. However, it’s Viktor Gyokeres and Ebe Eze who have reignited fans’ hopes of ending the title drought. They could truly be the final pieces of the puzzle.

Bukayo Saka remains a huge threat, while the likes of Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard are expected to contribute goals as well. With both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus out, the Gunners needed more firepower. Gyokeres and Eze provide it in abundance, so Premier League defences have plenty to worry about.

Last season, Arsenal finished with 17 fewer goals than Liverpool and three fewer than Manchester City - they only just outscored fifth-placed Newcastle. With only 34 goals conceded, Arsenal boasted the league’s toughest defence, and with their newly-added goal threats, they could tip the balance. The Gunners are now favourites for the title with many bookies.

The Eze Factor

Anyone who’s watched Eze play knows the sort of quality he possesses. Last season, he picked up 25 goals and assists as he played a huge role in Crystal Palace’s FA Cup win. He even scored the winner at Wembley.

His goals and assists lift Arsenal to another level, and with Gyokeres finishing the chances, the pair could form quite the partnership. The 2024/25 league season saw Eze get eight assists, and six of them were for Jean-Philippe Mateta. The Gunners’ Swede could be this campaign’s beneficiary.

Eze is also the sort of player who excites fans and unsettles opponents. Only four players in the league made more successful dribbles (67) in 2024/25, and just two had more shots from outside the box (57). The 27-year-old also made 58 key passes in his 34 appearances, which puts him in the league’s top 15 - and level with new teammate, Saka.

A big problem for Arteta last season was the lack of cover when players weren’t available, largely due to injuries. Eze and Gyokeres form a duo that collectively featured in 95 matches during the 2024/25 season. These signings bring both quality and depth, and that could potentially be the decisive factor.

Next up is a trip to Anfield for what could be Eze’s debut, and it’s a real chance to stake their claim. They drew against the Reds both times last season, and beating them this weekend would really make a statement. You wouldn’t go against the Gunners’ new number 10 making an instant impact.
