Brazil are the most successful team in the history of the World Cup, winning it on five occasions in the past and finishing runners-up once.

But the last time they won the trophy was in 2002 when the World Cup was held in South Korea and Japan.

They defeated Germany in the final 2-0 courtesy of a Ronaldo brace. In fact, Brazil romped to the title by winning all their matches.

Ronaldo was the talisman for Brazil, scoring eight goals to win the golden boot. Ronaldinho also made his mark in the tournament.
