Major League Soccer is set to welcome another global icon as Robert Lewandowski has reached an agreement to join the Chicago Fire. The legendary Polish striker is in line for a free transfer to the United States following the conclusion of his trophy-laden spell with Barcelona.

In his first season at the Chicago Fire, Mbekezeli Mbokazi has become an All-Star in the United States - polling more votes than Argentine GOAT Lionel Messi. Fellow countryman and MLS trailblazer Doctor Khumalo has told GOAL why the talented 20-year-old defender - who is now on 2026 World Cup duty - has become a global “ambassador for South African football” and remains on course to be “one of the greatest players” on the planet.

MLS side Chicago Fire are in discussions with Robert Lewandowski and Leon Goretzka, who are both out of contract this summer. Lewandowski, who won three league titles with Barcelona, has long been linked with a move to Chicago. Goretzka has multiple European suitors, but the Fire reportedly believe they can lure the German to MLS.
