Espanyol have officially parted ways with head coach Manolo Gonzalez following a disastrous exit from the Copa del Rey at the hands of fourth-tier opposition. The Catalan club confirmed the decision on Tuesday after a dramatic 4-3 defeat against Sestao River Club proved to be the final straw for the hierarchy.
Bayern Munich winger Bryan Zaragoza has opened up about the sliding doors moment that almost saw him wear the famous Barcelona colours. Currently on loan at Espanyol, the Spanish international confirmed that serious negotiations took place to bring him to the Camp Nou before his career-defining move to the Bundesliga.
Espanyol sporting director Monchi has been forced to issue a formal apology to the club's supporters after publicly endorsing Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal for the Ballon d'Or. The veteran executive sparked a fierce backlash from the Perico faithful by backing the star player of their fiercest local rivals for football's ultimate individual prize.
Bryan Zaragoza and Bayern Munich can breathe again. The player because he is back in his Spanish homeland and, after difficult times, hopes for plenty of playing time; the German top club because they were able to let go of a professional they had no use for.
