Neymar pledges to help Mbappe be PSG superstar... just like Messi taught him at Barcelona

Neymar says he wants to be helpful to his "buddy" Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain, just as Messi assisted the Brazilian during his time at Barcelona.

The attacker and his teenage team-mate were both on target Wednesday as PSG strolled to a 4-0 win over Anderlecht in the Champions League, with the 18-year-old Frenchman scoring just three minutes in and setting up Edinson Cavani to help the French side to a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Neymar found the net after the hour mark with a stunning free-kick before Angel Di Maria rounded out the scoring in the dying minutes.

The goal for Mbappe, his eighth in the competition, made him the highest-scoring teen in Champions League history, and the club are off to a flying start to their season having won 11 times in 12 matches in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

While the early signs are promising for PSG's potent attack, with Cavani reaching rare air by netting in his seventh straight Champions League contest, the Uruguayan hinted at some unrest ahead of the match by claiming that the stars do not need to be friends with each other.

Despite this, Neymar made it clear after the match that he does want to be friendly, at least with his younger team-mate, claiming that he'd like to help Mbappe the way Barcelona star Messi helped him.

"I'd like to act with Mbappé like Messi acted with me," he said to the Brazilian TV.

"I want to help him. He's my buddy."

PSG are back in action with a Ligue 1 trip to Marseille on Sunday.
