Wydad Casablanca president breaks silence on Al Ahly star Percy Tau and Rhulani Mokwena's reunion in Morocco ahead of January transfer window

Percy Tau has been linked with a move to Wydad Casablanca as his Al Ahly contract nears expiration.

The Bafana Bafana star is not having what he would deem his best season with the Cairo giants and that makes it doubtful for his contract to be renewed.

Wydad president Hichan Ait Menna has responded to the rumours linking Tau to the Moroccan giants.

“We will not enter into negotiations with Al-Ahly duo Reda Selim and Percy Tau, and there has been no communication with the duo to contract with them in the upcoming transfers,” Ait Menna told Radio Mars as per Soccer Laduma.

"What was recently circulated about the approaching signing of the Al-Ahly duo, Reda Selim and Percy Tau, is baseless, and we did not enter into negotiations with any of them."

If Tau joins Wydad, he would be reunited with Rhulani Mokwena, the coach whom he worked with at Mamelodi Sundowns reserves as well as the senior team.

He would become the third former Masandawana player to turn out for the Morrocan giants after Cassius Mailula and Abdelmounaim Boutouil.

It remains to be seen if Mokwena will be able to influence his bosses to sign Tau who, however, is no longer the top-performing player he used to be.

Tau's current Al Ahly contract which is approaching an end has an option to extend it by a further year.

It remains to be seen if the reigning African champions will trigger that option.
