    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has been out of competitive action since the beginning of April when he was injured in a Premier Soccer League match against TS Galaxy.

That saw him missing four matches, including the last two against Marumo Gallants and Orlando Pirates, where he was an unused substitute.

But with Chiefs going into a big match against Pirates again, this time around being the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, Miguel feels he is ready to play.

    WHAT MIGUEL SAID

“I’m more than ready. It’s a final, and you don’t even have to think twice,” said Miguel as per FARPost.

“Even if you are injured, you have to be more than ready, and I am more than ready for this final. Listen, I wanted to play even the game against Marumo, so of course the injury made me stop playing for three weeks.

“I just came back last week. It was like management by the coaches as they preferred to rest me and not use me in the games against Pirates and Marumo. Of course, the yellow cards may have some impact on the decision," added the former Petro Atletico player.

“This week, there’s no time for rehab, and there’s no time for doctors. Don’t put me in the doctor’s room. I have already told them [management], I’m going straight to the field and help the team.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite the possibility of coach Nasreddine Nabi benching Miguel in Chiefs' last two games as a precautionary measure, the player was at risk of being suspended for the Nedbank Cup final.

The defender's disciplinary record has been a concern for Chiefs, and he is currently sitting on three yellow cards.

If he is to start on Saturday, Miguel is likely to partner Edmilson Dove at the heart of the Amakhosi defence.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MIGUEL?

Just like most of his teammates, this will be Miguel's first major Cup final while in the colours of Amakhosi.

It remains to be seen if Nabi will pick him to start on Saturday in what is a big match against Pirates, needing experienced players.
