Mamelodi Sundowns came into the match full of confidence after their 4-1 win over Orlando Pirates in their league game on Saturday.

Lucas Ribeiro, who has now scored seven goals in the league, had his effort come off the upright.

The determined Galaxy got their lone goal in the 44th minute when Denan Zajmovic set up Kamogelo Sebelebele for a clever finish.

Even after the break, Galaxy were determined to defend their win and hit Masandawana on counterattacks. The frustrated Sundowns eventually fell for the third time in the league this season.

The defending champions remain at the summit on 42 points from 16 games, while Galaxy go fourth with 25 points from 17 games.

    THE MVP

This was a massive game for TS Galaxy and their fans as well as the players gave absolutely everything to win the game.

Kamogelo Sebelebele was everywhere to help the Rockets inflict pain on the defending champions.

He is our man of the match.

    THE BIG LOSER

Sometimes, when you set the standards too high, they come back to bite you.

Ronwen Williams is known for his saves; it is hard to beat him in his near-post.

However, Sebelebele caught the Bafana Bafana captain in the first half and did well to beat him for the only goal of the match.

    WHAT COMES NEXT?

The next assignment for Sundowns will be in the Nedbank Cup on Sunday.

Masandawana, who reached the final in the previous edition before falling to Pirates, will host minnows Mpheni Home Defenders at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

The Rockets will be away at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Friday to play Durban City hoping to get in the quarter-final.
