    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs missed out on a top-eight finish after playing to a frustrating draw against Polokwane City at home. The result meant Amakhosi ended their league campaign outside the top half of the table.

Late in the match, rising star Mfundo Vilakazi was brought down in the box.

However, the referee chose not to award a penalty, sparking outrage among fans.

Former referee Victor Hlungwani reviewed the incident and confirmed it should have been a penalty. He insisted the youngster was clearly fouled and that the official missed a crucial call.

The decision may have cost Chiefs a place in the top eight and will leave coach Nasreddine Nabi wondering what could have been.

    WHAT HLUNGWANI SAID

“We see Vilakazi getting into the box and Matodzi is behind,” he said as reported by iDiski Times.

“He’s behind and there’s contact there on the line. There’s a second contact there on the bum with a push with the leg with the knee, so that made Vilakazi to fall.

“An offence has been committed in the penalty area for which a penalty should’ve been awarded.

“So, here incorrect decision! A penalty should’ve been awarded for Mfundo Vilakazi.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR NABI?

Having secured a CAF Confederation Cup spot through their cup success, the focus now shifts to the future of Nasreddine Nabi.

The Tunisian coach recently revealed that club management has reassured him of their confidence in his project. Despite the setbacks, he remains committed to building a stronger team.
