    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates found themselves slipping from second place to the third position in the Caf Champions League Group C table following Al Ahly's defeat to Khanyisa Mayo's CR Belouizdad on Friday evening.

CR Belouizdad netted a late goal to triumph over the Red Devils 1-0. Mayo started and played the full match for the Algerian team, while Tau was brought in during stoppage time of the second half.

Despite the defeat, Ahly remained at the top of the table, while the Sea Robbers were impacted by the result as Belouizdad moved ahead of them into the second position.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Al Ahly has accumulated seven points after four games, whereas Belouizdad has collected six points from four matches in the Caf Champions League group stage.

Pirates, who have yet to play their fourth match, have earned five points so far, while their upcoming opponent, d’Abidjan, lie at the bottom of the table with just a point in the bag.

A victory for José Riveiro's team against Stade d’Abidjan on Saturday will enable the Bucs to rise in the Group C standings, surpassing both Ahly and Belouizdad.
