    WHAT HAPPENED?

Following an impressive 2022/23 season in which he was Orlando Pirates' best player, Monnapule Saleng dipped in form last term.

Personal reasons were attributed to the 26-year-old's struggles last season.

After starting the current campaign in a promising manner, his agency has sent a gentle reminder about the winger's capabilities.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Saleng started this season as a regular and was enjoying some good form with five goals and an assist in 13 appearances across all competitions.

He was threatening to overshadow the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and other Pirates' top performers.

But after returning from an injury spell, Saleng last featured for the Buccaneers in early December 2024 and has not been getting some game time of late.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SALENG?

Recently, Saleng was being linked with a move to the Gulf Region, reports Pirates poured cold water on.

With a few days left before the January transfer window closes, there could still be chances he could move and if he stays, he might be key when some players start suffering from fatigue due to the Buccaneers' congested fixture schedule.

He could feature in Bucs' upcoming matches which are against Richards Bay and Kaizer Chiefs having been spotted training with the team on Wednesday.
