    Lorch inspires Wydad to victory

Wydad Athletic Club emerged as 1-0 winners over Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round first-leg match on Sunday.

A sublime Thembinkosi Lorch corner-kick set up Joseph Bakasu, who fired home to hand the Moroccan football powerhouse the lead in the 47th minute.

Nyoso was a constant threat to the Kotoko defence during the match played at the Accra Sports Stadium as he continued his good form for the Red Castle.

    Lorch's form with AFCON looming

The 32-year-old has four-goal contributions in his last four matches across all competitions for Wydad and he is a permanent fixture in coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem's starting line-up.

Lorch hit the back of the net against Yacoub El Mansour on September 19 before scoring and providing an assist to propel Wydad to a win over COD Meknes on October 3, coming into the game against Kotoko.

The former Chippa United star can only hope to maintain his great form ahead of December's AFCON in Morocco in order for Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos to consider him for Africa's most prestigious football tournament.

Broos recently discussed Lorch's constant absence from the South Africa squad and the Belgian tactician did not rule out a future call-up for the 2018/19 PSL Player of the Season, who has nine Bafana caps.

    Nyoso focuses on next challenge

The Bloemfontein-born player and Wydad have turned their attention to the second-leg clash against Kotoko, which is scheduled to be played in Morocco on October 24.

He will be determined to help the Red Castle progress to the group-stage phase of Africa's secondary club tournament.
