    WHAT HAPPENED?

At the beginning of the 2023/24 season, Itumeleng Khune was handed a one-year extension by Kaizer Chiefs.

He went on to capitalise on Brandon Petersen's inconsistencies to take the number-one spot at the club before a disciplinary breach saw him get suspended.

Upon the expiry of his one-year contract, the club refused to extend his deal.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

A couple of weeks ago, Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung stated the club was ready to give Khune another off-the-pitch role.

Seemingly, the former South Africa international did not agree to that and wanted to do something else.

The 37-year-old is now a shareholder at TopBet and has since explained how he was hurt by the Soweto Giants and about his new venture.

    WHAT NEXT?

After Khune's exit, Chiefs brought in Fiacre Ntwari as his replacement but they are yet to keep a clean sheet in the five PSL games played.

It is interesting to see whether the veteran custodian will work with the Glamour Boys in future.
