Esteghlal have moved eighth in the Persian Gulf Pro League with 14 points after beating fifth-placed Foolad 2-0 on Saturday evening.

The Pitso Mosimane-led team needed just three minutes to get their first goal at the Shohadaye Foolad Khoozestan Stadium courtesy of Raphael Silva.

Amir Sadeghi then added the second strike in the 21st minute to help the Iranian side secure maximum points.

After a heavy storm in the initial matches, the celebrated South African coach is slowly turning things around at the club.

In the last five matches across all competitions, Esteghlal have two wins, as many draws and one loss.

Both wins came in the Persian Gulf Pro League as the team looks to close the gap on the chasing pack.

It surely will give the players much-needed confidence ahead of forthcoming matches.

Mosimane will now have to work on the team's consistency which will help them continue surging upwards on the table.
