    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns fans confronted the club's bus when it was leaving the Lucas Moripe Stadium after losing the MTN8 semi-final duel against Orlando Pirates.

Angry fans are seen surrounding the bus with police trying to intervene moments after the conclusion of the second-leg semi-final game.

The fans, visibly angry at their players, protested as the bus made its way, contrasting the usual tradition when the bus is escorted with jubilation after wins.

  • WHAT IS MORE

Sundowns, who took the lead courtesy of an Iqraam Rayners goal, conceded a late equaliser and got bundled out after a 4-1 defeat in the penalty shootout.

The first-leg showdown had ended in a 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium, where the Brazilians had conceded a late goal again.

The Tshwane giants could not even take advantage of the fact they were playing at home in front of their fans, with Pirates fighting back to seal another ticket to the final.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After beating Sundowns, Pirates have now made it to the fourth straight final and will now face Stellenbosch FC.

Stellies outclassed Sekhukhune United courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate win, setting up another date against the Soweto giants.

For Sundowns, another chance to try and win the domestic trophy went up in smoke after losing the blockbuster showdown against the Sea Robbers.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SUNDOWNS?

After failing to advance in the MTN8 at the hands of Bucs, Downs will be up against Kaizer Chiefs in the league on August 27.

This is set to be another tough duel for Masandawana, given that Chiefs are unbeaten this season and would want to inflict more pain on the league's defending champions.

For Pirates, the priority is now to defend the MTN8 title on September 13 when the final duel will be held. But before then, they will be attending to their league duties and will be in action on August 26 against Monnapule Saleng's Orbit College.
