Masandawana rallied from behind to claim all three points against the KwaZulu-Natal side at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday night. The win keeps Sundowns within striking distance of Premier Soccer League leaders Sekhukhune United as the title race heats up.

Durban City opened the scoring in the 12th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to take an early lead. But their advantage was short-lived as Marcelo Allende responded swiftly for Masandawana, calmly slotting home the equaliser. 

The Tshwane giants then turned the tide in the 35th minute when Tashreeq Matthews weaved past multiple defenders and fired Sundowns ahead. The momentum stayed with the hosts and in the 66th minute, Bafana Bafana international Iqraam Rayners made it 3-1, finishing off a slick move initiated by Kutlwano Letlhaku.
