Wydad Athletic Club's quest to make a return to Caf Champions League football suffered a blow last weekend.

The Red Castle were held to a goalless draw by CODM Meknes at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium on Saturday.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The result was not anticipated by Mokwena after his team had won the last five games.

A win could have put them on 42 points, two more than third-placed Renaissance Zemamra who are also chasing the Caf Champions League spot.

It explains why the frustrated Rhulani Mokwena felt the pain of dropping maximum points at this stage of the season.

    WHAT MOKWENA SAID

“I don’t like the grass at the stadium, I don’t like the feeling from the fans today, too tense, I don’t know if we are a team that has not improved enough to have fans backing us, supporting us, our fans were so tense, I could feel it, the players could feel it, a lot of things today I didn’t like,” the 38-year-old stated after the match.

“Don’t make that mistake and say he is using excuses no! No! I told you the first person to blame for the draw is Rhulani Mokwena. Do not make that mistake.

"Football is a game where everything matters and if we play in our home stadium, we have a technical game. I don’t think I was brought here because I look good or I’m handsome, no, I think I was brought here because of the style of football I play, and if we can’t play that in our home stadium it becomes very, very difficult.

"I am very unhappy coach today this is the worst I have felt since I’ve come to Morocco," Mokwena concluded.
