    WHAT HAPPENED?

Although he is happy with his general performance in the season, he is concerned that he did not score as many goals as he would have wished.

    WHAT MOFOKENG SAID

“I think I did well this season. So I just need to continue to improve and work hard. So I just need to continue,” Mofokeng, who was voted Man of the Match in the Magesi FC game, told SuperSport TV.

“I think a place where I can improve is scoring because that’s the only thing missing in my game. I can create and assist. But it’s only my lack of scoring, but I think I can improve with a lot of practice.”

    WHAT IS MORE

Pirates challenged for multiple titles but were unable to win more than one in the end. They reached the semi-final of the Caf Champions League and were eliminated by Pyramids FC of Egypt.

The Buccaneers were defeated by Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final, and in the Premier Soccer League, they could not match Mamelodi Sundowns' pace.

However, Mofokeng is confident the Sea Robbers will come back stronger.

“It has been a long season because we have been involved in competitions like the [Champions League] and Nedbank Cup, because we are not used to playing so many games. So I think we did well," he stated.

"We just need to make sure that next season we do better than this season.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mofokeng has been one of the outstanding players for the Sea Robbers this campaign, as he clocked a third season with the senior team.

Consequently, the 20-year-old forward has been numerously mentioned as a contender for the PSL Player of the Season award.

Apart from Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi are the other youngsters who showed brilliance for the club. Siyabonga Dladla, Simphiwe Selepe, and Yanga Madiba were also integrated into the senior team and have shown they can develop into dependable players.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MOFOKENG?

He has been encouraged to move to a bigger club, with some pundits believing that he is now ripe to play even in Europe.

The idea of leaving Bucs might not sit well with the club's fans, given how outstanding he has been for the Soweto giants.

In the preseason and during the transfer window, any speculation around Mofokeng is set to attract a lot of attention.
