Olisa Ndah set to replace injured Thabiso Sesane against Mamelodi Sundowns? - Orlando Pirates provide important injury update ahead of top-of-the-PSL-log clash

Orlando Pirates have given an injury update on key defenders Olisa Ndah and Thabiso Sesane ahead of their highly-anticipated Premier League showdown against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Nigerian international hasn't played since he suffered a severe injury in September 2024. Sesane, on the other hand, was substituted just 18 minutes into the Bucs' victory over Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants have indicated that Sesane is an injury doubt, while Ndah is waiting for his chance to be recalled to the matchday squad.

"Defender Thabiso Sesane is a worry for Pirates ahead of their trip across the Jukskei River. The 24-year-old only lasted 18 minutes in the victory over Babina Noko and could sit out the trip to Loftus," reads the club's statement. 

"The experienced Tapelo Xoki – brought on in his place in midweek – is among the likely options along with club captain Innocent Maela. 

"Also waiting in the wings is Olisa Ndah who is making his way back to match-fitness, having resumed training." 

Sesane formed a strong partnership with Nkosinathi Sibisi in central defence when Ndah and Tapelo Xoki were sidelined due to injuries.

Xoki, who replaced Sesane against Sekhukhune, is available for selection since last month.

Players such as Goodman Mosele, Zakhele Lepasa, and Thabiso Lebitso are still unavailable as they continue to recover from their injuries.

Xoki is anticipated to start alongside Sibisi in central defence against Sundowns.

The encounter between the two teams is set to kick off at 15h30 on Saturday.
