  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they have parted ways with former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Katlego Otladisa.

The 28-year-old, who was signed from Marumo Gallants in 2023, has left the Soweto giants after struggling for game time.

  • WHAT IS MORE

Since he joined the Sea Robbers, Otladisa has had an underwhelming season with the Buccaneers, only playing in 12 games and scoring no goals.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Apart from Pirates and Sundowns, the winger has played for Platinum Stars, served Cape Umoya and Cape Town Spurs on loan, and Gallants, from whom Bucs signed him.

Last season, Otladisa was loaned out to Sekhukhune United, and as the current transfer window is about to end, Pirates have decided to end the association with the winger.

He struggled for game time as he competed with Karim Kimvuidi, Kabelo Dlamini, and Relebohile Mofokeng for starting positions. Kimvuidi has also left, as he joined SC Ashdod of Israel.

Now Otladisa has joined a long list of players that have left Pirates: Innocent Maela, Miguel Timm, Paseka Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Phillip Ndlondlo, Monnapule Saleng, Mohau Nkota, Zakhele Lepasa, Yanga Madiba, Thuso Molekeki, Azola Tshobeni, Goodman Mosele, Abdoulaye S Mariko, and Kabelo Kgositsile.

    WHAT NEXT FOR OTLADISA?

After struggling to break into Pirates' starting XI, his eventual release might come as a blessing in disguise.

He can now join a club of his choice where he might resuscitate his career after his underwhelming stint with the Soweto giants.
