    Coach's advice

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has asked his players to be consistent to earn Bafana Bafana call-ups.

To get the attention of the national team coach, Hugo Broos, Nabi believes there are aspects that his players must meet before being considered.

What Nabi wants from his stars

“It is always an honour to have players from Kaizer Chiefs represent the nation,” Nabi said.

"We are hopeful that in the future as well, we will have even more players, but that requires a lot of work and a lot of sacrifices from the players to be at their best consistently," he added.

“As well, we’re hoping that we will have more players in the near future, representing the national team.”

    Chiefs players in Bafana camp

Two players from the Soweto giants were in camp when Bafana prepared and played against Lesotho and Nigeria in the September 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Shabalala was an unused substitute in both games, but Monyane was a second-half substitute against Nigeria. The former Orlando Pirates fullback came on for Mamelodi Sundowns' Zuko Mdunyelwa.

    Overlooked

In the previous Bafana games, Broos did not hand out call-ups to Chiefs players, and he defended his decision by citing the club's struggle.

Although they eventually won the Nedbank Cup, Chiefs underperformed in the Premier Soccer League and finished outside the top eight bracket.

This season, Amakhosi have been an impressive unit so far, and their performance convinced Broos to give some of their players chances with Bafana.

If the players heed Nabi's advice, then it means the Glamour Boys' representation in the national side will only increase.
