    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs signed Glody Lilepo, Thabo Cele and Tashreeq Morris in the concluded January transfer window.

The first two were eligible to make their debut for the Glamour Boys.

However, Morris had to fully serve his suspension which he received while playing for SuperSport United.

A controversial penalty converted by Patrick Maswanganyi helped Orlando Pirates beat Amakhosi in the Soweto Derby on Saturday.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lilepo and Cele made their debut in the Soweto Derby. The latter replaced George Matlou in the 51st minute, with the Congolese coming on nine minutes later in place of Mduduzi Shabalala.

The duo had some good moments in the game, always trying to help the Glamour Boys get something in the final third.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi was impressed with what he saw from the duo, and couldn't hide it.

    WHAT NABI SAID

“I believe that, for the time they were on the field, they showed some good quality,” he told the media.

“But you have to understand that they only trained for four days after long trips from Europe. They were not training regularly before they came, but in the few minutes that they played, you can see there is quality in them. We are happy with the players that came on.

"We take this opportunity to thank the management and the board for those signings," Nabi concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

The Premier Soccer League title is most probably out of Kaizer Chiefs' reach.

However, the new signings can help Amakhosi finish in the top positions.

However, the main objective will be winning the Nedbank Cup.
