Mamelodi Sundowns have an exciting opportunity to face some of the biggest football clubs in the world at the Fifa Club World Cup, set to take place in the USA.

The draw for the tournament will occur on Thursday night, December 5.

In an interview with Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine, coach Manqoba Mngqithi discussed the importance of winning their eighth consecutive league title, but also highlighted the significance of competing in the upcoming global event.

He emphasised that the tournament in America would provide a valuable platform for the players and the club to showcase their talent.

Mngqithi noted that playing on such a prestigious stage is an excellent chance to elevate their profile.

The coach also reiterated that the focus on domestic success is crucial, but international opportunities like the Club World Cup can help Masandawana grow further.

“The focus is on winning more matches than losing. Winning as many games as possible brings us closer to greater achievements," said Mgqithi in the Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine.

"One of our primary goals is to win the league for an eighth consecutive time, but we also have our sights set on the Caf Champions League and the Fifa Club World Cup.

"These tournaments present a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our talent on a larger stage and compete against some of the best teams in the world. We are committed to building a squad that not only excels domestically but also makes a significant impact internationally.”

Masandawana's first priority remains to perform well domestically and to focus on the Caf Champions League.

The Fifa Club World Cup will only take place after the 2024-25 season concludes. For now, Sundowns are concentrating on winning their eighth league title and excelling in Africa’s top club competition.
