    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates are currently the most in-form team in the country after a near-perfect start to the 2024-25 Premier Soccer League campaign.

The Soweto Giants have already won the MTN8 for a historic third consecutive time, and are top of the table after collecting maximum points in the seven games played.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

In the last two seasons, the Sea Robbers have finished behind Mamelodi Sundowns in the race for the PSL title.

Masandawana have won the last seven editions, and are still a force to reckon with in the ongoing campaign.

Nevertheless, Bucs striker Evidence Makgopa is convinced the Manqoba Mngqithi-led team will not find it easy since the Buccaneers want to end their decade-long drought.

    WHAT MAKGOPA SAID

"Our fans, there is something that they are expecting, which is the league title," Makgopa told Bucs Change Room.

"That one has to be at the top of our list so we have to. That one is a must. We have to be the champions of the Betway Premiership. "We want to give them that belief that 'yes, we can do it.'"

    AND WHAT IS MORE

Makgopa's sentiments were seconded by Deano van Rooyen who insists his team has the quality to win both the PSL and the Caf Champions League.

"If we can be consistent in every game, we can achieve what we want as a team," the defender stated.

"Like I said, our goal is to win the league and the CAF Champions League. We just have to showcase what we got and I think we can do it as a team."

    WHAT NEXT?

The Sea Robbers are currently prepared to play Algerian outfit CR Belouizdad in their first Group C game on Tuesday.

It is a massive game that the Soweto giants can use to underline their title credentials.
