    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates made it to the Caf Champions League group stage this season after falling in the second preliminary edition against Jwaneng Galaxy in the previous edition.

They were placed in Group C alongside Algerian heavyweights CR Belouizdad, defending champions Al Ahly and Stade d'Abidjan.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

As opposed to Khanyisa Mayo's CR Belouizdad, Pirates have been doing well in the 2024-25 season across all competitions.

They have won all seven of their Premier Soccer League games for the first time in the club's history.

Earlier in the season, they secured the MTN8 for the third consecutive time, a feat no club in Mzansi has ever achieved.

The only loss suffered was in the Carling Knockout where they fell 3-2 against eventual champions Magesi FC in the Round of 16.

It explains why coach Abdelkader Amrani is anticipating a tough clash.

    WHAT AMRANI SAID

"Orlando Pirates is a very respectable and strong team, playing modern football, and currently leading their local championship,” he opened to the media ahead of the game.

"The match will be very difficult for us, but after our last victory, I hope that confidence will become a habit for the players.

“A very difficult match awaits us against Orlando Pirates.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Group C is one of the toughest pools in this edition, meaning it will be vital for the teams to give their best and get positive results as early as possible.

Bucs players are convinced they can go all the way this season, but they will have to show on Tuesday in North Africa that they are equal to the task.
