Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City played to a goalless draw on Wednesday night in the Premier Soccer League game.

Having won against Magesi and Stellenbosch in the PSL and Nedbank Cup quarter-final, respectively, Amakhosi were the favourites against the Citizens, who were winless in their last eight games across all competitions.

However, despite getting numerous chances, Mduduzi Shabalala failed to convert from a one-on-one situation with the keeper, as Glody Lilepo hit the crossbar while Pule Mmodi's effort forced Darren Keet to a good save.

On the other end, Bruce Bvuma had to come out and deny Amadou Soukouna and Jaedin Rhodes.

Amakhosi remain eighth on 29 points, six more than 10th placed City. Chiefs risk losing the top-eight position as Manqoba Mngqithi's Golden Arrows, who have played three fewer games than Chiefs come hard.

Arrows defeated Polokwane 1-0 to take their points tally to 24.

    THE MVP

Goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma proved once again that it was a mistake to overlook him in favour of Rwanda international Fiacre Ntwari.

The 29-year-old pulled two fantastic saves in crucial moments to keep the Glamour Boys in the game.

He has surely made his Bafana Bafana case with Ronwen Williams on and off, owing to injuries.

    THE BIG LOSER

Imagine getting a two-year extension and promise to deliver as expected, only to go MIA on the pitch.

That was what Ashley du Preez did on Wednesday night; he was nowhere to be seen and was replaced by Ranga Chivaviro.

    WHAT COMES NEXT?

On Sunday, the Glamour Boys hope to silence Richards Bay at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium ahead of the international break.

Amakhosi will fancy their chances of securing maximum points owing to the struggles of the Natal Rich Boys.

The Citizens continue their quest to finish in the top eight with a daunting task against the unpredictable Marumo Gallants.
