  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Despite their promising play and attack, Kaizer Chiefs have been struggling to score goals.

However, on Monday, they unveiled two attackers, Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United and Glody Makabi Lilepo who was playing in France at third-tier outfit Valenciennes.

Midfielder Thabo Cele is the other player who was signed by the Soweto Giants.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Glamour Boys have been relying on youngsters like Wandile Duba, Mfundo Vilakazi, and Mduduzi Shabalala to deliver in big matches.

The 27-year-old is meant to bring his experience to the team alongside Morris and Gaston Sirino who came in on August 2024.

Nevertheless, for Lilepo to deliver, former Orlando Pirates striker and compatriot Lelo Mbele has warned him against indulging in the hazardous city life.

    WHAT MBELE SAID

"The boy needs to focus only on football instead of being tempted into all other distractions in Johannesburg," he told SNL24.

"I haven’t spoken to him, but the truth is that he needs to know that when you are playing for a big team, there will be a lot of distractions, especially from girls wanting his attention.

"The best thing to do if you want your career to move nicely is to stay away from them regardless of how beautiful they are.

"I played for Pirates as a young man, so I know what I’m talking about and was lucky that I quickly left to play in the Arab countries.

"He is my homeboy, so he needs to be told the truth about focus instead of being taken to places that he shouldn’t be going to at night," he added.

    AND WHAT IS MORE

Mbele has tipped Lilepo to have an impact at Chiefs just like youngster Relebohile Mofokeng who has been a hit at Orlando Pirates.

"I watch South African football every week and I like Mofokeng at Pirates," he continued.

"Lilepo plays as a winger, more like Mofokeng, and while he is not as technically gifted, he has the power and is not scared to take his man on.

"He will cut in from the left and I wish he takes responsibility in going for the kill so that he gets to have goals.

"I think it will help that the coach also speaks French. He has played in the national team and went to Europe from Sudan, so that should tell you something about his abilities," he concluded.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Lilepo might make his debut on Saturday as Orlando Pirates play Chiefs in the Soweto Derby.

Bucs have won the last three meetings across all competitions.
