Kaizer Chiefs went ahead after just five minutes when Ashley du Preez finished a Yusuf Maart feed for his second goal in as many starts

Wandile Duba then doubled Amakhosi's advantage in the 13th minute as Chiefs threatened to go on a rampage.

But Royal AM reduced arrears six minutes into the second half through Ayabulela Maxwele before Levy Mashiane levelled up with a minute to go.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw as Royal showed character on the night.

    THE MVP

Yusuf Maart was a top performer and for a second consecutive game made another assist.

The Amakhosi captain was also a threat to Thwihli Thwahla's defence whenever he carried his team forward.

He started the season being criticised for struggling to rise to occasions but he has rejuvenated himself.

    THE BIG LOSER

Despite earning themselves a point and rising to position five on the table, this draw might feel like a defeat for Chiefs who missed an opportunity to jump to position three on the table.

Victory would have placed Amakhosi back into the PSL title race and they would have settled just behind second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.

Furthermore, Rushwin Dortley and Given Msimango displayed some poor defending when Chiefs conceded for the second time on the night.

Nasreddine Nabi's side will have to improve defensively if they are to finish in the top eight this season.

    WHAT COMES NEXT?

Amakhosi remain in Limpopo for a third successive match when they face Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on December 8.

Royal AM will only be back in action on December 13 when they face a resurgent AmaZulu in a KwaZulu-Natal Derby.
