    WHAT HAPPENED?

AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane has insisted he is not worried about the club's current position in the Premier Soccer League standings.

Usuthu have had a miserable start to the season and are in position 15 in the table after an awful start to the 2024/25 campaign.

However, Zwane, who recently joined the Zungu family-owned club alongside Vusumuzi Vilakazi, said there is no reason to panic as he believes it's still still early to think about relegation.

    WHAT ZWANE SAID

"I know a lot of people will always say we're fighting relegation, how can you fight relegation when you still have 25 games left? There's still a lot to play for," Zwane said as quoted by Sowatan

"You start fighting relegation when you're left with five games, according to my understanding, it also depends on how other teams are doing and the gap between you and other teams, then you can start talking about relegation.

"Right now, we are not even thinking about relegation. We are thinking about improving the team and challenging ourselves because we are in this league to compete," he added.

"Probably, the break we are going to have is more of a blessing in disguise, but we would have liked to carry on with the momentum, it's a chance to fix things we lack."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Zwane and Vilakazi replaced Spanish mentor Pablo Franco Martin, who failed to collect a single point in the first three of AmaZulu's games in the new season.

Amaqhawe, as the club is nicknamed, have won one game and lost four times in five league matches that they have played so far.

However, the two coaches lost only two games, one in the PSL and the other in the form of Carling Knockout before claiming first victory in the club's latest game.

    WHAT NEXT?

Zwane and Vilakazi have been in the game for a long now and the AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confidence in them that they will change the club's fortunes.

The former Chiefs and Golden Arrows tacticians, respectively, will be hoping for successful stints at Usuthu.

The Durban-based outfit will be in action again in a league match against Richards Bay on November 30.
