    WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed the strategy they plan to deploy and beat Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday.

Although he acknowledged the fact that the struggling Amakhosi can also beat Pirates, the tactician said they have a way of overcoming the challenge that will be posed by their rivals.

    WHAT RIVEIRO SAID

“It’s a pleasure and honour to be here, one more time, in the final representing Orlando Pirates,” Riveiro told the media.

“It’s what we have been looking for since day one, when we started together. We worked hard enough to find ourselves regularly in almost every final since we started.

“It’s something to celebrate one more time. We don’t want to play the occasion; we want to focus on the game plan and focus on the way that we can beat Chiefs, and also they can beat us, so that we can avoid it [being beaten by Chiefs].

“We’re going to try to make the Chiefs play badly. That’s the intention on the day. We’ve done it already several times together, and we want to make sure that we are there again," he added.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Riveiro will be facing Chiefs for the last time, as he is expected to leave Pirates at the end of the season.

He is aiming for a double against Amakhosi within a week after masterminding a 2-1 victory in the league's Soweto Derby last Saturday.

The final also presents Riveiro with a chance to win the cup and leave Pirates with two trophies, despite their PSL dream now looking distant.

On the other hand, Chiefs will be keen not to fall again, as that will pile more pressure on them, taking into account how they have struggled in the Premier Soccer League.

    WHAT NEXT FOR RIVEIRO?

The Spaniard hopes to guide Pirates to the third cup final in a row, while Chiefs aim for at least a trophy.

The Soweto rivals will meet on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
