    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have experienced inconsistent results this season under Nasreddine Nabi. They currently sit in sixth place, trailing Mamelodi Sundowns by 17 points. After a win against Stellenbosch, Bobby Motaung stated, "We are cooking," suggesting progress. However, former Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has a different perspective.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Khune expressed concerns about the team's inconsistency. He believes Chiefs must analyze what works and improve their approach to become more competitive.

    WHAT KHUNE SAID

"Chiefs haven't been convincing this season. They are playing in patches and obviously, everyone expects Kaizer Chiefs to be the most consistent team. And the fact that they win one, lose one and they draw one, they win one, that's not consistency," said Khune as reported by Soccer Laduma.

"There's something that they need to go back and check. What is it that works for the team? What is it that doesn't work for the team and continue improving on what's been working for the team. Consistency is what is needed. That's all I can say about Kaizer Chiefs."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

With new signings like Thabo Cele, Tashreeq Morris, and Glodily Lilepo, who has already scored two goals in three games, Chiefs are showing signs of improvement. Nasreddine Nabi seems to have found a more effective attacking approach, but consistency remains a challenge.

With 13 games left, Amakhosi still have 33 points to play for, meaning they could reach a maximum of 58 points by the end of the season. The big question is whether they can find the form needed to win all their remaining matches and mount an unexpected title challenge

    WHAT NEXT FOR AMAKHOSI?

Amakhosi now shift their focus to the Nedbank Cup. This competition presents their last chance at silverware this season. They will face Chippa United, who reached the semi-finals in 2024. Chippa will be eager to go further this time around. Chiefs must use this opportunity to gain momentum and salvage their season.
