    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs signed three players in the January transfer window.

They brought in free agent Thabo Cele to bolster the midfield and bring much-needed experience and steel.

Winger Glody Lilepo was signed from French third-tier outfit Valenciennes.

Amakhosi also added forward Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chances of winning the Premier Soccer League are slim for Chiefs owing to the inconsistencies in their results and the 17-point deficit to current log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, they have a chance to win the Nedbank Cup and end their decade-long trophy drought.

On Saturday, they will be playing Chippa United at the FNB Stadium in the Round of 16.

The Chilli Boys coach Thabo September is anticipating a tough outing after the positive impact made by Chiefs new attackers.

    WHAT SEPTEMBER SAID

“Chiefs are looking good; I think after the window, they look good," he told FAR Post.

"Their new signings have brought a lot of intensity into their game. High press, good press with Morris, Lilepo, [Pule] Mmodi and Gaston [Sirino], if it’s [Mduduzi] Shabalala – that front four presses well.

“[Sibongiseni] Mthethwa and [Yusuf] Maart – Maart is suspended. [Thabo] Cele – they look good [in midfield]. They still have the same back four that played us," September concluded.
