  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Orlando Pirates have beaten Kaizer Chiefs twice this season in the Premier Soccer League.

On Saturday, they meet again, but in the Nedbank Cup final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The Buccaneers are targeting their sixth straight win in the Soweto derby across all competitions.

If it happens, coach Jose Riveiro will be the first Bucs coach to achieve the feat.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Inacio Miguel, Gaston Sirino, Thabo Cele, Bradley Cross, Glody Lilepo, and the other new players signed by the club this season haven't tasted the Soweto derby victory.

The Angola international believes that will change this weekend. He argues Bucs will come into the game confident of a routine win.

The centre-back has promised the fans a win that will end their decade-long wait.

  • WHAT MIGUEL SAID

"Last weekend’s result might make Pirates a little bit over-confident, and we are well prepared, mentally and physically, to take advantage of any complacency in their team," he told the club's media team.

"We go into the game knowing there is no second chance in a final, and we want to show everyone, including ourselves, that we can do it.

"The previous results don’t count for much. Both were close games, and though we lost both, we feel we weren’t outplayed and could have won them. They were decided on a couple of small mistakes, and it is our mission to not repeat those mistakes. We have the belief that we can beat them," Miguel added.

"All the players are all too aware that the supporters have been desperate to win a trophy for a long time, but we live in the present and can’t dwell on what the Club hasn’t done in the past 10 years.

“We have a final to play with a trophy on the line. We have a mission to fulfil, and we are totally focused on what is in our hands, what we can do.

"Right now, that is to bring the cup home, and we are working hard to make it happen," he concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Miguel did not start last weekend's Soweto Derby because he was still working on his fitness after an injury mid-April.

However, he is expected to start the Saturday duel, which is a boost to coach Nasreddine Nabi, who will miss the services of Bradley Cross.
