    WHAT HAPPENED?

Right-back Sfiso Timba has been consistent for the Kaizer Chiefs' reserve team in the Diski Challenge.

He has played a vital role in helping the junior side rise to the second position on the table, with a real chance of beating Stellenbosch FC who are leading the race with 29 points, having played a game more.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Timber made the junior squad that recently qualified for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations after winning the U20 Cosafa Cup which doubled up as the qualifier.

He was close to making the senior team after impressing coach Nasreddine Nabi, but Belgian Challenger Pro League side RWD Molenbeek have acted fast by inviting the 19-year-old for trials as confirmed by his agent Steve Kapeluschnik.

  • WHAT KAPELUSCHNIK SAID

"This is a great opportunity for Sfiso. He flew out on Thursday night to join the team in Turkey, where they are camping for their mid-season preparations," he told SABC Sport.

"This kid has massive potential and will be a future star. He has been invited to be assessed by the club, who are in the second division in Belgium and we will take it from there.

"We expect this to be a big year for him, especially with the AFCON coming up in April. I believe Sfiso is ready for Europe," Kapeluschnik concluded.

    WHAT NEXT?

Timba hopes to impress the Belgian outfit and get a contract but if it doesn't happen, Chiefs will most definitely fast-track his introduction to the senior team.

The U20 Afcon finals in Ivory Coast later in the year will be a massive platform to market his talent.
