    WHAT HAPPENED?

Mamelodi Sundowns drew 1-1 with Pyramids FC in the first leg of the Caf Champions League final at Loftus Versfeld last Saturday.

It was a match the Brazilians had their captain, Themba Zwane coming on from the bench but Mothobi Mvala believes that despite his injury woes the 35-year-old is still a key member of their squad.

    WHAT MVALA SAID

“We need experienced players to come to the party, especially in the change room, to push the guys so we can win this game,” Mvala said as per Sowetan Live.

“We played Pyramids FC before and it’s not going to be an easy game because we have to get a result that side.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

A respected player on the continent, Zwane was injured for six months in a critical part of the season before returning to full fitness recently.

But since he came back, he has not started any official match, only coming on as a substitute.

It is to be seen if Cardoso will turn to the experience of Zwane when they face Pyramids in their crucial Caf Champions League second leg encounter.
